University of Gharyan on the Path to Institutional Development and Keeping Pace with Modern Trends in Higher Education

The University of Gharyan continues its efforts to develop its institutional and academic systems and strengthen the capacities of its academic and administrative staff by engaging in training and development programs that provide opportunities for knowledge exchange and exposure to the latest practices adopted by Arab and international higher education institutions.

In this context, the University of Gharyan participated today, Tuesday, 8 September 2026, in the opening of the 2026–2027 Joint Training Program, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Libya, in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities, with the participation of a number of universities and academic institutions.

This participation is particularly important as the program provides an opportunity to explore contemporary experiences and practices in areas that directly contribute to the future development of the University and the enhancement of its performance, most notably:

🔹 Transition to blended learning and e-learning

🔹 Development of international university relations and partnerships

🔹 Understanding the indicators and criteria of global university rankings

🔹 International academic accreditation systems

🔹 Quality and accreditation of engineering programs in accordance with ABET standards

🔹 Harnessing applied scientific research to serve society and support development

🔹 International standards for the quality of medical education in accordance with WFME standards

The University of Gharyan views such programs as a means of institutional learning rather than merely a training activity. Their real value lies in the University’s ability to translate the knowledge and experience gained into practical measures, policies, and development programs across its institutions and faculties.
